open door beeping and light

Hi
I have a 99 windstar. sometimes when I start it the open door signal stays on and the overhead light wont turn off. Oh ya the BEEPING makes me nuts.
It doesn't happen all the time and sometimes when I shake the door it goes off and everything is fine. Can anyone tell me if this is an easy fix?
Thanks

Re: open door beeping and light

I have 04 Freestar and same problem started today.
Another web site told me to check all contacts and ensure they are clean. Have the van scanned and it should indicate which door is faulty.
Apparently there are service bulletins on this, so have to assume dealership is familiar with problem. Whether to take to a dealership is another issue.
I will post results (if any) in the next day or so, cuz I ain't driving with all that beeping !!!!

You can look to each door lamb switch to clean or lubricate them including the one for the sliding doors. I have got that problem and this was coming from the switch for the liftgate. You will have acces in removing the inside rear panel of the liftgate; mine were corroded and I have cleaned and lubricate them.
