Interior lights and chime staying on.
On my 93 LX all of the interior lights are staying on and the key in ignition chime comes on when he door is opened with no key in. The lights come on when I open the door and stay on when driving. The dimmer switch is working normally and not in the interior lights on position. Eventually the lights go out if I let the car sit long enough. I pulled most of the bulbs out to prevent battery drain. My first thought was ignition switcn, but I don't want to be buying items I don't need.
Thanks in advance for any input. |

Re: Interior lights and chime staying on.
You may have a failure of the "Illuminated Entry Module" although I don't know if the door chime is controlled by this module. If your car is a sedan, the module is located behind the rear seat, under the left side of the package tray. If you have a wagon, the module is located on drivers side in front of the side spare tire storage compartment.

Re: Interior lights and chime staying on.
Had a similar problem with my 01 taurus. The switch that causes the lights to come on when you open the door was stuck. I'm not sure about yours, but my switch is integral with the door latch mechanism. I sprayed some wd40 in it and opened and closed the door a few times, been about a month with no more problems. I don't know if it is related , but it happened right after washing the car. Water may have caused a short.
