Re: 1999 Concorde stalls when driving and will not restart until cool
Last month my boyfriend bought me a used 1999 Concorde that has the 2.7 engine in it. We got it from a private seller. After picking up the car at the sellers house I went and got the oil change in the car at the dealer and that is when I found out about the engine failure of the 2.7. Three times last month the car stalled on me and all three times the car started back with no problems. Earlier this week the car stalled out on me twice Monday night on the way home from my boyfriend's house. On Tuesday morning I ment my boyfriend at a mechanic instead of going to the dealer. The mechanic refused to look at the engine since it was a 2.7 and there is a class action lawsuit against Chrysler. All day Tuesday it was running fine. The next day I had to go to the bank and as I was leaving the bank the car would not start after 10 minutes went by it finally started. Seconds later after getting on the road the cruise control light came on and starting slowing down. I was able to safely get it out of the way of traffic. My boyfriend and I were able to get another mechanic to agree to looking at the engine and told us that the crank and cam sensors needed to be replaced. I just had both sensors replaced. Friday morning the mehanic was getting ready to take it out on a test drive and the car would not start and he thought was the battery that needed replacing a few hours later I get a call and it was not the battery. It was the ground wire circuit to the igination. Finally, the mechanic that agreed to look for the problem in the engine my car had to be towed the rest of the way. After having both sensors replaced and the ground wire replaced it runs great. Since picking it up the car has not stalled. If anyone has the 2.7 engine in their concorde such as me have a mechanic check the cam and crank sensors they maybe bad. If you get the oil light flickering on from time to time that has to do with the oil sludge. When my car stalled out on the way to the mechanic Thursday morning my boyfriend was following me in his car and we were able to safely get it off the road and into a parking lot and he had checked the oil and fluids everything was fine. I am already in the process of my adding name to the class action lawsuit against Chrylser.

Thanks for the reply to the thread.
I would also like to say that the cam sensor is very critical on this engine. If it is pushed in too far, or pulled out too far, the engine will not fire up. Also, a starter problem will not cause a car to stall while driving. |

Re: 1999 Concorde stalls when driving and will not restart until cool
You can check BUT, I believe the class action lawsuit against Chrysler concerns the way the oil pump functions ( or rather does not function ). The way I understand it, there is a design flaw, which can cause #5 bearing to not be oiled. DO NOT hold me responsible for this statement it was passed on to me by a car salesman. Who actually did not want me to buy his 2002 Chrysler Sebring LXI with a 2.7 liter engine.
