a/c problems
We have a 98 chevy lumina. Last week we notice when drivng with the a/c on that every so often what looks like smoke would come thru the vent. Its been really humid here. Then today I noticed I high pitched noise. I Pulled over and turn car off. The noise was still there. Then when turning into neighborhood it stopped with 3 loud chimes like when you start the car. Is this the compressor going bad. Any help would be nice as We have a 4 day trip planned later in the week. thank gary

Re: a/c problems
Welcome to AF, regarding the mist in the ac vents, look for a clogged drain tube, r/s of cowl down low behind the engine. Noise ,has to be determied on site for obvious reasons.

Re: a/c problems
Check if you have lost coolant, is the wetness water or antifreeze, again the drain can cause this, if water.

Re: a/c problems
Yes the drain was plugged. It draons fine now. But I still have the problem with the blower motor. Thinking that the water might have something to do with this. could it have blown a fuse if it got wet and went to ground. If so where would the fuse be at for the fan motor. thanks for the quick replies. This forum I see can be really helpfull. thanks gary

Re: a/c problems
Blower fuse should be in the r/s dash fuse panel I believe, see if there is 12v to the connector also.
