s14 Boost Tap/Controller Help PLEASE

i have a 1995 nissan 200sx 5spd running standard boost...about 8-9 pound as the exhaust and intake have been upgraded....i wish to install a boost tap/tee i have brought a turbosmart tap which needs to be installed between the wastgate and the pressure source and i have just cut the hose betwerrn the actuator and the factory T-Piece that goes off in numerous directions one looks to go to a factory boost contoller????? but the tap does nothing the wastgat does not open and it just free boosts even with tap turnd right down any help with someone who has installed a tap in their s14 will be much apreciated i can send photos if nessecary
