Question 4 wheel drive turns on automatically

I'm experiencing some issues with a 2004 Durango. The 4 wheel drive automatically decides to turn on even when its turned off with the switch. Does anyone know any reason why this could be happening? I has never happen before and nothing out of the ordinary happened. Is there some setting that can be changed? Thank you

Re: 4 wheel drive turns on automatically

No this is not normal. You should have it checked out. Could be a malfunction in the 4wd system itself or a faulty switch. If you have access to a scanner you might want to check for codes. There are a few auto parts stores that scan for free if you dont. Get the codes and look them up and see what the issue really is. I know this is kind of old but this forum is DEAD so I figured I would answer it anyway!!!!!!!!
