Changing Plugs & Wires on 88 econoline

I just purchased a 1988 Winnebego with Ford Econoline chasis. I cannot get to the front spark plugs to get them changed. Any suggestions or tips????

If you have the 460, reaching thru the wheel well between the fender and frame should allow all the access you need.

If you have the 5.8L, then crawling underneath, and using a 3/8" ratchet with a sparkplug socket on it should allow access.

Thank you for your reply;

Finally got it done, what a pain in the a** that was. I hope I don't have to tackle that job again anytime soon. It's hell to have fat fingers!

Thanks again for the info.

Re: Changing Plugs & Wires on 88 econoline

I have a similar issue on my 89 E-350 motorhome with the 460. For #1 & #2 plugs, is there some sort of a panel in the wheelwell for access? I spent several hours last weekend changing the plugs and just couldn't figure out how to get those 2 out. I did pull the RF wheel but still couldn't find a way. Got the other 6 without too much trouble; #5 was tough but doable.

Thanks for any help.
