Rebuild: 420a (input)
I decided im gonna rebuild the 420a, looked up some price for the rebuild kits around 400-500ish, can anyone tell me the labor for someone to rebuild it for me, and when i rebuild it, will it be able to handle a turbo w/o blowing up after 10-20k miles

Re: Rebuild: 420a (input)
If you are planning on turboing it you should put forged internals in it. The rebuild will cost you a little over 1k but you could turbo it and not have to worry about blowing it up. You should be able to do a stock rebuild for about 400-500$. Im not sure on labor but Im sure that will knock the price up a good bit, especialy if they have to pull the motor to.

Re: Rebuild: 420a (input)
If i throw the stock rebuild kit on , then throw a turbo on it keep on a low psi. would that blow the engine? was looking at some forged internals and they seem to cost alot.

Re: Rebuild: 420a (input)
any time you put a turbo kit on a stock engine that wasnt designed for a turbo your shortening the life of the motor.

Re: Rebuild: 420a (input)
Not necessarily, as long as you keep it 7psi or lower and the everything works the way it should it wont hurt your motor. The problem is people keep pushing the limits and try to get 10psi out of it and thats when the motor fails.

Re: Rebuild: 420a (input)
Most people go with JE Pistons and Eagle rods. You can get them for like $800 on ebay. Its going to cost that much for forged internals. Then you have to buy the rest of the parts you need to the rebuild, gaskets, bearings, timing belt. It will probably cost you around $1200 or so to do the whole thing.
