96 Buick Regal Performance
Hey, I'm a new poster on this forum and I'm looking for some basic tips and modifications, if anyone has done any.
I drive a 1996 Buick Regal 3.8. We all know the engine produces around 205 horses, 230 ft/lbs of torque. This is fairly respectable for a 96 GM v6, but the engine is capable of more. Now, what I didn't mention is, my Buick is at 184,000 miles. It still runs like a champ, gets fairly good gas mileage, and I love the mid-range power. But, of course, we're all always looking to eek every last drop of power out of our cars, and I think these engine could probably easily make 235 horses with some basic mods, and I'm sure a lot more if you want to do more work. I'm just wondering if any of you have any suggestions or anything? I'm looking to do some mods to it. So, if you had a 3.8, didn't want to spend a whole lot of money, but wanted some extras horses, what would you guys do? Let 'er rip. |

Re: 96 Buick Regal Performance
Alright first either go to ebay and buy a cold air intake or make one using pvc and such...next look here http://www.zzperformance.com/grand_p...cts.php?id=113
they have a highflow throttle body- almost 7-12hp Cold air intake - Belived to be like almost 10hp High Flow Intake insert- 30 hp then you can get a custom exhaust made for it....Also get you ecu reprogrammed they told me id get 18-23hp and 30lbs of torque remove speed limiter and shift better and turns fans on faster and more responsive.but wanted like 490bux for that... I also drive a 1996 regal with the 3.8 series 2 and i just ordered a K&N cold air intake for it mine has 239,050kms on it and runs amazing and the trannys good as new all original. Im also looking at the above mods. |
