installing rear glass without weatherstripping?
I have a 1979 celica and I dont have the weather strip for the rear glass and I can't find a replacement anywhere. So would it be possible to use urethane adhesive thats for a regular windshield to install the rear glass even though it doesnt have a frit band? Or is there anything else I can use to install the glass?

Re: installing rear glass without weatherstripping?
Urethane will work so long as the glass overlaps the metal frame sufficiently to allow for a good bond. At least 1/4 inch overlap would be best.
Try calling a glass shop to see how they would install it. |

You really need to find an orginal rubber. Someone will still make one somewhere, have you tried Toyota parts specialists, and panel beating suppliers? You might even have to to look at getting one from overseas.
