Dream Theater: Systematic Chaos

This album has been out for a good month or so, and I got it as soon as it came out. Let me tell you, SO worth it. Dream Theater fans have been disappointed with their recent efforts, including myself, but let me tell you, This album is SO good. Finally, the band has returned to the innovative material that they are known for, with so many surprises like the very thrash influenced track, "Constant Motion". First time I heard it, i imediately thought, wow, this could be Megadeth!

So for the prog-metal fans here that have not yet had a chance to hear this album, trust me, this is the best album Dream Theater has put out since "Awake", imo. I really do like it that much.

I've never listened to Dream Theater, is this a good place to start?

Re: Dream Theater: Systematic Chaos

Absolutely is! just a description before you give a listen, you'll hear John Petrucci lay down fast, technical guitar riffs, equally intricate synth work from Jordan Rudess, extremely impressive precussion skills from Mike Portnoy and driving basswork from John Myung. The vocalist, James LeBrie, is extremely versatile. You'll hear anything from power metal vocals, to opera, to thrash metal. The entire album ties together really well, and like albums before it, it speaks a story, so listen from start to finish. These guys are Prog legends, i'm sure you'll enjoy them. If you like this, also check out "Scenes from a Memory", "Awake", and "Octivarium". Also, the Live albums are really kick ass as well.

PM your way
