95 Astro Seating problem

We have 9 people total in our family and our children recently wrecked our "family vehicle", our 98 suburban. I'm still mourning the loss of that truck, and the fact that we used it as a trade in on this little astro. I've always loved astro vans, I've always wanted one, but circumstances being what they are - I haven't felt the overwhelming "YES" I know I should at the moment.... sorry... sidetracked....

ANYWAY... the van only seats 8. I would like to either
A) go the junk yard, find another front seat (preferrably passenger) and bolt it down right smack inbetween the front seats, or..
B) find a front bench seat and remove the front captains chairs.

I have NO idea what this van may or may not have regarding conversion - We've only had it a few days. How hard would it be just to get a passenger seat, plant it in the middle... we only need it for about a year (oldest is getting married then and moving out).

Re: 95 Astro Seating problem

bench seats were not an option on astros- the idea of planting a passenger seat may work- if it will fit- bolting it down may need to be reinforced- just sheet metal under and above tranny- also be wary of ability to remove "doghouse" (engine cover) for future access to engine- the cover needs to pull out between the seats,,,,

Re: 95 Astro Seating problem

you might try looking for a fold down jump seat like the ones in the back of older jeeps, that would fit between the seats and if you have the long bed you might be able to put two in the back facing each other

Re: 95 Astro Seating problem

I posted a thread called "'99 Seating Options" which Old Master replied to and included a good web link you may want to check out.

We have 7 in our family with #8 on the way. We have the captain's chairs and can only seat 7 - 2 in the front, 2 in each chair in the middle, 3 in the back bench.

Are you getting 8 in there with the same set up?

Yeah, we've got 8 in there no problem, but our center is a bench seat for 3 as well. We only have captains chairs up in the very front.
