99' GMC Suburban Won't start

Hello, this is my first time posting. I have a 99' GMC Suburban I am stationed overseas and taking my truck to a dealer off of base is hard since it is a US car. My truck was running fine when I wen't to the store was in there for five mins came back out and the truck won't start. When I spray starter fluid in it it starts up for a sec and then stops. I can't hear the fuel pump running I have checked the fuse and it is ok I can't check the relay because no one has anyway of checking it. If anyone could help I would be grateful.

If you know the pump is not running it could be the pump or the relay. You need a voltmeter to check both sides of the relay and voltage to the pump.

judging on ur description and being a gm tech it sounds more likely that ur fuel pump has gone out. that has been a fairly common problem amongst gm vehicles

A quick check that will usually diagnose a failed pump is this: have someone crank the engine. While they are cranking it, you get underneath the truck with a hammer/log/piece of pipe/ --something to jar the tank with while the engine is cranking. Don't go king kong on it and tear open your gas tank, but pound on it (the side of a ball peen hammer works well) with a sufficient force. The pump is usually in the center of the fuel tank. If the engine fires, you know the pump is having problems. Chevroletkjun is right. GM doesn't have a very good track record with fuel pumps. IF you do get it running, there's a very good chance it may stop running again. When the pump fails once, it's bound to fail again, even if you can manage to hit it enough to make it run again. Hope that makes some kind of sense.
