rebuilt transmission
I have had my trans replace with a rebuilt unit on a 99 taurus, vulcan. The tech who replaced had problems with the torque convertor and eventually put in a new one. The trans shifts fine but seems to hunt between gears especially at low speeds but noticable at higher speeds. Also, there is a loud snap from the front end when going over bumpy road. This repeats as long as I am hitting small bumps. My fear is the tech screwed the cv joint up as it was working fine when taken in. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: rebuilt transmission
They had to lower the engine cradle to replace the transmission. My guess is that they didn't properly torque the engine cradle bolts and that's what's giving you the snapping sound over bumps. On the gear hunting, that you should definately take back to them and have them repair it.
