S10 P/U Performance

I have 200 S10 p/u 2.2. I would like to know if anyone has replaced their clutch fan with a direct drive metal fan and if so does it cool the engine ? I am tired of losing HP with the a/c on. I swapped out the oe filter with a k&n which helped, but I can walk faster when the a/c is on from a stop.

Re: S10 P/U Performance

the 2.2 liter motor is the most underpowered piece of crap that chevy ever could have put into a truck, My brother has a 2.2 in a 99 with a cold air intake and we're working on a "freestyle cat back" aka I'm making it, the cold air made it sound better, little better gas milage, tiny perf gain, but I'm thinking you're not gonna go very fast with the ac on no matter what you do, switching to a direct drive fan, like a flex fan will do little to nothing as far as making your truck run cooler, the thermostat opens at what it opens, switch to a 160, and that'll get it to run cooler, but I'm not sure what you're trying to accomplish. If you want more perf., put an electric fan on, cold air intake, cat back, and maybe a header if you can find one, but they cost more than they're really worth on this motor, but that's about all you can do for stock-ish performance mods. lemme know what you're trying to do.
