Rebuilding a 302...(need advice)

Its actually out of a 84 capri, but #1) They didnt have a capri catagory, #2) More people will see it here and #3) its the same engine anyway...But ya, i was wondering what a good price would be to rebuild a 302. I dont want a race engine with 500Hp or anything. Im aiming for about 325 or so LEGAL HP. What would be my best bet for an engine kit? I live in the SF bay area, does anyone know where a GOOD mechanic might be and how much labor would cost? I have about 3 grand to work with, the car already has a racing t-5 and a cobra clutch so now just the engine needs to be borught up to speed. I was thinking somewhere along the lines of boring to a 306 with some good heads, cam, intake and a carb and some good pistons and a crank. Any advice is appreciated, thank you.
