Chevy Aveo 2007, smell Gas fumes at higher elevations

Hello all,

I own a 2007 Chevy AVEO hatchback. When I am driving around in downtown all seems well, but when I go driving towards the Mountains I notice a strong smell of gas fumes as I reach elevations around 2500 and above. As I go higher up the gas smell gets more apparent.

When I get back down to lower elevations all is well for the rest of the week. A week later I went back up to the Mountains and sure enough I started to smell the gas fumes again. I notice no gas leaks. but was to detect more of the stinch under the rear right passenger tire wall. There appears to be some sort of module next to the gas tank but no gas leak......

Has anybodty experienced this on the AVEO's or have any idea what is happening the smell reaches into the cabin very strong and I am traveling about 30-40 mph up a gradual slope.

Any ideas will help.. I afraid this car will blow up on me if I light a cigarette.
It only happens when I head up the mountains.

If this is a new car, I'd get it back to the dealer.

Yes it is new, a couple months. I am scheduled to take it into the dealer this Friday. I spoke with the service Rep on the phone and he thinks it is unusual that it only happens at higher elevations.

How are the even going to figure this out without a test drive to the hills (about and 30 to 45 minute drive).

I was hoping I someone may have had the same issue and resolved it that way I could at least point the service tech in the right direction.

Thanks for the rapid response though
