Question?

Hello evry one.
i have a question to ask.
i use to built a lot of model cars for many years, then i swiched do diecast modeling, now from time to time i put together one or two.
i have 3 models to put together:
fujimi nissan skyline r33 gtr nismo(this one i will make just like the real one looks)
nissan skyline r33 gtr kansai hks(i have project for that one)
nissan skyline 350gt nismo(i have project for that one)
so my question is : i see some of u painting frame of the car in the same color as body color, is it new stile now? becouse i remember it use to be black or flat black.
but i like it, its realy cool.
and i will ceep u updated on my models and projects.
and i show u some of my models that i have.

Re: Question?

Well alot of instruction call out for chassis to be painted body color. I dont think it is any particular style but it is just the way real car manufacturers make their cars.

Re: Question?

Some cars are painted black on the underside to represent undercoating applied to cares destined for the U.S.

Why do you say wrong forum? I think he's talking about his models (kits) that he puts together from time to time.

to be accurate, 99% of street cars chassis are painted body color, but not the whole thing, thanks to unibody construction they primer the car then paint the car the body color, they don't spray the undernieth, but its does get over spray from the body painting. lightly spay the body color on oppisite sides of the chassis, and leave a area up the center of the chassis in primer, here's a picture of the chassis on a 1969 GTO, it shows the correct overspray on the chassis

and yes, there also painting black, its undercarraige rust protection,to be correct is should have a little texture to it.

Re: Question?

Is leaving just primer on the underside an American thing? I ask because I have never seen it on any European, Japanese or Australian car I've owned, only painted the same colour all over.

I own a 2001 Hyundai Accent and I checked the chassis, its primer with body color overspray, so they do it in South Korea, not sure about Japanese cars though, my old car, a 1995 Geo Prism, which is basically a Toyota Corolla and built by Toyota had primer body color overspray, but it was painted a GM color so thats why I'm not sure about it,

Re: Question?

Sounds like a good subject for a survey or poll
Were the Hyundai and Geo built/assembled in the USA?

The Hyundai was built in South Korea, The Geo was build in Toyota's Fremont California assembly plant, right next to the USA Spec. Corolla. they now produce the Pontiac Vibe there when they stopped production on the Prism in 2002
