is it possible to get into the 11's with around 4-500whp on a SR20 in a hatch with all carbon fiber body parts and a roll cage and approx whats it gna cost for all the parts with a good strong sturdy motor and to still make it street driveable. i plan on putting a stroker kit on also.

thought about going v8 but decided against it. i live in des moines, iowa. i could settle with slower times but i want a 4 cylinder that keeps rite next to the v8's if not eat them. i dont need necassarily that fast. i could settle in the 12's. i plan on doing the whole suspension, wheels, tires, big brake setup and probably a 6 point roll cage. just want a good reliable motor that can be driven on the streets thats probably gonna run a stand alone. just needing advice where to go around how much for parts on the motor and tranny.

Seriously, you are no where near ready to take on a project like this unless you just give a big cheque to a shop.

You just got a big promotion, you will be wearing a suit to work, hopefully a nice one. You will look like a fuckign retard getting in and out of a race bucket, bending around a roll cage every morning when you get to work. Buy a Bimmer as a daily driver.

You want a fast drag car, a 240SX is not a good drag car because the rear suspension is independant. You need a solid axle rear setup for a good drag car.

first off i have a 99 lexus already. i work in a office all day and it dont bother me to get out a car like that. the v8 platform im already gonna do is a 72 datsun 280z drop a LS1 w/ supercharger and few other mods. thats gonna mainly be my strip car but will still be street legal. theres the same car i found with all that done and raced a hybusa 1000cc and it smoked that fukin bike. couldnt even dyno it correctly with a few big ppl sitting on the azz end. i feel im pretty skilled drove many fast platforms rode in a vet at round 192 mph had some mods done 165mph flyin past a cop purposely to c wat he would do and he didnt move but that was in a 95 talon tsi and a few other fast cars. so with that bein said i have no problem driving fast. driving not the problem for me its i need a fast car. i want a 240 HB and i want it to get some good times at the strip and b able to kick some azz on the streets and at the same time i like to fuk off on open hwy's and punch it A LOT. i have a wish list of parts that equal $50k but that would build a race car as i found out on another forum and i want street driveabilty with some bad azz top speed and still decent time at track. dont know which parts im gonna wanna get i have everything that i want on the rest of the car down what i want i just need to know bout motor and transmission w/ a sr20 motor and 5 speed trans. thats all. i have connections in all the fields that i need to complete this car and they will do it for free or very cheap and i can learn as the build goes on and help. You're the one who's driven 10 second cars and 500whp cars and all that bullshit, you should know how much power you need to make the car fun. It isn't 600whp, people who ask how to get to 600whp shouldn't have 600whp. Go step by step, how about buying the damn car first? They are all the same, just go with whatever you think looks best. Then figure out what you want from the car, if you want a better handling car or a more powerful engine, then upgrade that 1 step at a time. Don't jump straight into a fucking 1000hp fully caged race car.

Since ur in Iowa already, just drive on over to AMS in Chicago, leave it there with about $20k, and say "Give me everything you got", leave, come-back in about a month, and pick up your track car with a bullet-proof engine.

you need an NHRA approved cage to run under 12 second passes at NHRA tracks. you also need a driveshaft loop.

in fully caged and stripped out 240sx, you'll probably need something like 600bhp and 450lb/ft to dip into the high/mid 11s. of course, that's all circumstancial. you need to account in suspension and driveline, tyres and so on.

if you have 600bhp, and crappy tyres, wrong alignment and wrong suspension you won't get anywhere near your goal.

also, having it set up for drag racing will give you crap cornering. when setting up a car with independant rear suspension, you often give it a little positive camber, so when the rear squats on launch the wheels sit with o degrees of camber.

if you take a bend with zero or positive camber you'll be in for a surprise. the handling is atrocious, there's not a great deal of lateral grip (especially true with low-pressure high-profile drag radials) and you could lose control very easily. the tail will be very keen to swing out, and without the right negative camber it may be hard to catch the slide.
