Question When is the new 2008 camaro going to be available for sale?

I was wondering when the new 2008 camaro going to be available for sale? and the new 2008 Z28 Camaro? Is the new 2008 Camaro RS going to be another V6 travesty and when that is going to come out.

I know the Transformers movie is going to be released on July 4th Starring the new Camaro as the main character "Bumble Bee" which was a Volkswagen Beetle in the cartoon series. Does this mean the new Camaro will be released around this time.

I was also wondering, Why even make a V6 camaro? It seems stupid.

yeah man, u have to make a v6 if u want to compete with ford and everyone else who puts a non-gas guzzling model performance car on the road...the object is to stay around for awhile now that we are back, not burry ourselves again! the v6 model will sell more than any other model just like the mustang...it will be a bit cheaper so more can afford it, and the 35-40 mpg GM is aiming for now and days will be more likly to happen..well maybe not 40..but u know what i mean,.

Aside from the obvious fuel economy reasons, GM needs the "economical" V6 to balance out the more thirsty V8 in their CAFE.

Also, the V6 version is the volume model and without it, the V8 version wouldn't be possible. V6 Mustangs, for example, outsell the V8 versions which allows Ford to build them in volume great enough to make the V8 version affordable. Without a V6, Ford would produce about half as many Mustangs if they could keep the same price, but the lower volume would increase the price making the V8-only Mustang a relatively expensive and low-volume vehicle.

Its not going to be an '08 Camaro, it being released as an '09 Camaro. So, it should hit dealerships probably in the fall of '08 for the '09 model year. And releasing a vehicle just because it is being featured in a movie seems kind of dumb to me.

That's a much more expplanative and far less cracky answer than the 'would you prefer it like a Viper' that I came up with Thanks "old mod"

Exclamation A V6 Camaro RS!!!!!!! fOR f-BODY

Maybe they should release a V6 RS Corvette and a V6 Gt Mustang and a Camaro Si. We should copy all these tuner import cars so WE can sell more cars. Even Better we should make a Corvette SUV like the Porsche SUV "Cayanne." Because after all it really is all about selling cars now isn't it. Yeah, What was I thinking? A V6 RS Camaro was a great idea for F-body.

Re: When is the new 2008 camaro going to be available for sale?

I do believe Cadillac took care of the "Corvette SUV" idea.

The point is to sell cars, and to comply with EPA/CAFE guidlines that the car make overall has to adhere, not so much the motor. Fact of the matter is, alot of v6's will sell, especially with the current cost of fuel. And at that alot of v6 are no slouch either.

Re: When is the new 2008 camaro going to be available for sale?

I heard that the Z28 will takes its place back as the top camaro model, with the SS being the mid-level V8. As far as engines, I think they are mostly speculation. I've heard things from 2 V6 models and 3 V8 models to 1 V6 and 3 V8's.
As far as which engines are used, I think guessing right now would be a bad idea because GM is releasing more LS-series motors between now and '09, so the current motors available now may be out of the question later. Such as the LS3 for the '08 GTO and the LS8 and LS9 for the new vettes. But I don't think GM will be stupid enough to put any type of premium vette engine (LS8 and LS9) in the camaro, because that just doesn't make sense.

think about it though... the first year they release it they are going to want a lot of hype and putting a huge hp option in there would blow away a lot of the competition

Camaros and sports cars sell on looks before they sell on performance. Think about it.... what would sell more... a Camaro with a v6 or a VW Bug with a 400hp V8? They have to make cars to sell in as broad of a market as possible... just as wright said - if they didn't you'd be buying another $Viper$.... and btw the 3.8 V6's are still pretty quick from what i hear...

Re: When is the new 2008 camaro going to be available for sale?

Price of owning, fueling, insuring ect is going to make many settle on the v-6 models. GM needs to work on a serious v-6, cause most on the street will have one.
