92 4Runner/Surf 4WD Brake pedal release noise....
When releasing brake pedal just as it starts to reach the top position the brakes make a little noise...squeek. It's not on the inside of the vehicle. From what I can tell is that it sounds as though it's comming from the rear brakes, but than again I could be wrong. Front disc, rear drum. Not the dual spring style setup. It has done this for some time now...even with new brakes. Please help.

Could be your brake calipers sticking, this will cause premature wear of your rotors in the front end. Try checking it out .

Re: 92 4Runner/Surf 4WD Brake pedal release noise....
i'll look into it, but is there any test that can be done to check out if it is indeed the calipers? Thinking taking the tire off once on jacks and having someone press the brake pedal to see what my calipers are doing. Thanks for the advice.

Re: 92 4Runner/Surf 4WD Brake pedal release noise....
I'm not to sure about how to test it yourself, your calipers can drag against your rotors all the time making it hard to turn your rotor by hand BUT there is an allowance of how much drag there is supposed to be BUt I don't know what allowance it would be?

Re: 92 4Runner/Surf 4WD Brake pedal release noise....
Had a chance to look into the problem a little bit better and it's not the calipers, but standing from the back of vehicle rear right drum. Pulled tire and durm off brakes are still good and in tact. Cleaned up a little in the area and put all back together no more noise. Could have just been brake dust contamination somewhere I guess.
