Reuse MLS?

You guys think it'd be safe to run my used MLS until I get money for the Arp/cometic combo (extremepsi)?

Re: Reuse MLS?

i think it really depends on the condition of the H/G, if i where you however, i would just drop the cash now, and play it safe... ARP's RULE, and the cometic H/G is equally bad ass! i would personaly make that a priority prior to putting it back together... however, again, it depends on the condition of the gasket... if you feel confident that it will be fine, then i would go for it. if i was in a real bind, and mine looked fine, i would probably reuse it.

I think the most important question is, how long did was it on there and when looking at it is if fucked up at all?

But I pretty much agree with Black99GST I have never taken the head off and not replace the HG (just out of my own paranoia) But if I had just put the headgasket on, or it had low miles on it and I was strapped for cash I would resuse it.

Re: Reuse MLS?

the hg had less than 30k on it when the motor was disassembled... and I'm in a terrible bind...

The hg looks fine, it had some sort of coating on it, and it has worn off in places(stuck to head surfaces when pulled) so I'll be cleaning that off and spraying it with permatex copper spray...
The only reason I removed the heads from a working motor is the block broke (tab for transmission dowel pin). I'm now swapping the hg onto my AWD.

I don't have ARP's yet, but they're definitely on my list.
