new shoes for the sentra

got the shoes on the car. the car is now dirty since i drove home in the pouring rain, but it just needs a wash. they are polished grey slipstreams, so no chrome. tires are fusion hri's. got a pretty sweet deal on them, so im pretty happy.

i can already tell the difference, as i drove with the around the block to see if everything was perfect. steering, throttle, everything is more responsive, and takes less effort. its a great investment.

before someone says i need a drop, im not dropping this car anytime soon. roads here are crappy as it is. the b15 chassis suspention set up sucks, and has very little travel as it is. dont want to make it deal with less suspention travel. only coilovers id think about are the tein basics or the nismo coilovers.

They look good.

i don't think it needs a drop, i like it how it is. distance between tyres and arch is the same all the way round.

it's hawt.

Re: new shoes for the sentra

Looks good. You say you get better throttle response from the new tires and rims? Would it be because its new rubber and it gets better traction? Just curious. I have never noticed better response when I get new rubber, but I am 100% sure that my car runs better when its clean...

He got new wheels. Lighter, and or, smaller wheels will give you better response off the line. Less inertia to overcome.

I think they look sweet. And it certainly does NOT need a drop. I was going to get those same wheels for my crx but every time I was about to order them, I had to spend my money somewhere else... damn bills. LOL

Re: new shoes for the sentra

these wheels are about 11 lbs lighter a piece. so its quite a difference. havent launched the car or anything yet, but just from regualarly driving around, its a lot less effort to get up to speed limit, easier to turn, preyy much everything. im not going to do any launching with them until about 500 miles. want to break in the tires properly.

Break in the tires properly?

It's a Sentra, I don't think you need to worry about severly over powering the tires on a basically stock setup.

Plus if you've done any regular driving and the tires have gone through one or two heat cycles you're fine. And it's motorcycle tires that you need to break in with milege to get the coating off, mainly due to the fact that you've got such a smaller contact patch you have to scrub them in gently.

A car, especially one like yours, not much an issue.

No offense ment, just stating the obvious.... and telling you to just drive 'business as usual'. Wives tale, all it is.

not feeling the "chrome" look Chiquae, at least not on your Sentra. All the honda boys have slipstreams, but i understand if you had a nice deal on them. The altezzas has got to go, yo!

I like your car. It looks clean. I would have gone an inch bigger on the wheels, but that's just me.

Re: new shoes for the sentra

rice(er) - technically, they arent chrome. they just look it. it flows really well with the car in person. pics dont do it justice to me. maybe when i get bored i'll get them powder coated gunmetal or something. i did get a really good deal on them. 500 shipped, and got them 3 days after i ordered. normally you would have to wait 6 weeks just to get them, so you can say im happy. plus, there is plenty honda around here, so it wouldnt be too ahrd to sell them for that amount. as for the altezzas, when i bought the sentra, the left tail lamp was broken. at that time i'd rather pay 40 bucks for 2 new tails than 160 for an oem tail, as i had no job then. i'll be doing the 04-06 rear conversion soon enough, as i get the cash.

claw - yes, id have to agree, 1 inch more on the wheels. if this was for looks, then i would have went 1 inch more and bought a different wheel altogether. but, i kinda want to keep this car somewhat 'stockish' and keep the same size wheels. not only does it keep the weight down, it keeps the gears relativly the same.

Re: new shoes for the sentra

the wheels don't affect gearing, that's the tyre's rolling diameter. if you got bigger wheels, but the outside diameter of the tyre was the same you wouldn't change the gearing.

Eh I disagree I like the size he has now. For some reason I like sport compacts with a little more side wall. I think it makes it look more race "carish" then being slammed on low pros. Plus as he already stated his roads around there are bad and a pot hole would ruin a nice rim on low pros.
