Re: 98 voyager no power

This doesn't sound like a timing issue.

It sounds more like a fuel delivery issue, whether its bad gas, dirty or clogged injectors, plenum, throttle valve, dirty air filter or faulty fuel regulator (it's part of the fuel pump assembly) or even a (going)bad fuel pump, even a clogged or clogging catalyitic converter could exhibit this symptom.

Is the check engine light on? Did you check the DTC codes?

Tom

Re: 98 voyager no power

on a last note....

a clogged catalyst would throw a DTC code, unless the O2 sensors have been bypassed with resistors. (that cheesy "get 15 more HP now scam" on Ebay)

Re: 98 voyager no power

I have no codes. I did have a problem with it getting hot that it would blow out coolant in the overflow. I changed the water pump and that fixxed that problem. But it is still getting hot faster than it should then it acts like it is missing real bad and has no power. I do often smell burning oil. I dont know, it is driving me crazy.

Re: 98 voyager no power

I would head down the path you are going first and check the timing . If the timing belt has never been changed it is possible it has slipped a tooth or 2 . You may want tot hink about changing the belt if it has never been done . Off timing would also cause a loss of power and engine overheating . Also check the pcv valve if you smelling oil and see if it working ok . Pull that small rubber hose in front that goes air resonator and make sure there is no sludge buildup inside if there is the pcv is shot , I would change it anyway if you smell oil. Also check your air filter and make sure you aren't getting oil in there.
