93' regal gas gauge issue.

The gas gauge on my buick regal is acting up.the gauge shoots to empty when I'm accelerating from a stop even if i have just filled up, it'll slowly rises back to around half a tank but will change depending on if im braking ,turning, or accelerating.

it will float anywhere from 1/4 to just under 1/2 during normal city driving. any help? thanks.

also when the car is off , the needle is at 1/4 of the gauge
