1989 buick electra battery drain

my car runs fine but if i leave it sit overnight the battery drains. the lights work but when i go to start it it just ckicks until i jump it. the starters fine and the battery is new. any one know anything abouy this?........thanks

Basics, check for battery drains, also load test the battery, check all the connections.

You can test the different circuits for a drain by hooking a test light in series to your battery. Pull fuses one at a time. If the llight goes out after pulling a fuse it is that fused circuit that is draining the battery. Make sure everything is off before doing this. If you have a hood light remove the bulb while doing this test. Put a piece of tape over the pin switch for the interior light or remove the bulb. The radio presets are always hot but don't take enouigh current to drain your battery.

If the battery has been recently replaced or is not secured properly, check the positive cable overlap on the battery, make sure the cables aren't loose and that the spacer was put back in between them.
