Question Q: About photo etch harnesses

I've become stuck on a model (Nissan R34) for about two months now and its pissing me off that im wasting time on it. I have a few questions about photo etch harnesses. I've only used Eduards photo etch harnesses once in the past and I want to try something new, such as Reji, SMS, Studio27, crazy modeler, etc.

I guess I should begin mentioning I want to add 4 point seat belt harnesses to several cars i have on hold including this current model im stuck on.

When an Eduards 4 point harness is built, all the seat belts are loose and the center buckle is suppost to be glued to one of the side lap belts. That's how I'd like to make my seat belts. However, I looked at the other brands of harnesses that Hiroboy sells and noticed that the two shoulder belts of those other brands come attached to one clip that then gets attached to the center buckle. Is there any brand out there besides Eduards that sells its harness equipment so that when you build your seat belts the two shoulder belts arent connected together? I've also noticed several of the photo etch equipment out there is 5 or 6 point harnesses. I'm thinking of just messing around and making them into 4 point harnesses. Any brands you guys recommend? I'm 100% all ears on any suggestions right now cause I want to get this car done already. Again, what i'd like to do is glue the center buckle to one of the side lap seat belts and keep the shoulder seat belts separate from each other and with their own seat belt clip.

Sorry if im confussing anyone. I dont have the exact parts vocabulary down so im making this up right now. The buckle is where you connect all the seat belts and the clip is what you connect onto the buckle? I dunno

Anyone still reading this, I thank you very much. As always, any suggestions are greatly appreciated and thanks for taking time to read and/or reply to my thread.

Re: Q: About photo etch harnesses

Hi Chato,

The Crazy Modeller belts are great. The buckle is fixed to one of the lap (side) belts, and the two shoulder belts are loose, so you can position them where you like. If you want I can scan the instructructions and send them to you.

Matt

I was looking at that set and i was curious about how a few of those parts were set up. It would be helpful if you could provide the instructions. I sent you a message. Whichever is easiest for you is o.k. with me. Thanks Escort.

Re: Q: About photo etch harnesses

Anyone out there? ECHO! ECHO!

I've also attempted several times to get in touch with a certain popular vender/member to this website with absolutly no success. I'm tired of trying so I'm going to just take my business elsewhere, localy perhaps. Does anyone know of hobby shops in the states that carry a good amount of photo etch harnesses? I'm looking to buy sets for about 6 models I have pending.

Any help is very much appreciated.

Re: Q: About photo etch harnesses

I've checked them out before and they have a few sets for regular stock seat belts and also for tuning, unless they've updated their products within the last two weeks or so? My LHS has an order pending with them. I was told it wont arrive until sometime in June. Knowing detail masters has a couple of different sets I asked the guys at my LHS which one they ordered but they weren't sure which it was. I guess the catalog they used didnt have pictures?

One thing that effects whether your threads get an answer is your attitude.

Have you bothered looking on http://www.stradasports.com ?

Re: Q: About photo etch harnesses

Sorry for that wise ass remark there Freakray. 361 views so far and only three respondes has me thinking whats going on. Never the less, thanks for your help. I took a very quick look at that site. Looks a lot like another I've seen, perhaps it was a link, but I havent seen this site you posted. I'll take a good look at what they carry the second I have time for the hobby. Thanks to you too ballsoup. I already viewed detail masters last night and am going to view strada as soon as I have the chance, and then do some price comparing. I've got about 6 models im trying to buy these harnesses for. Have a great weekend guys.

Well, you can choose to believe you're being snubbed if you prefer. But if you're not getting answers, it generally means people don't have much to say. Could mean that people just don't have one preference over another. Or that few people if anyone have enough experince with the sets you're interested in. People here like to be helpful when they can (even if it's just because we love the sounds of ourselves typing)- so if you're not getting any responses, often it just means the answer you want isn't here.
