cherokee lifts

i own a 1990 cherokee, i was wondering if a inline 6 4.0 will push 35's, also if i go with 35s how big of a lift will i need. im willing to trim my fenders. Also what other things would i need to do with that high of a lift. any recomendations on types of lifts. also what would be easier to do 33 12.50s of 35 12.50s? thanks

Re: cherokee lifts

Your 4.0 is strong enough for 35's, but to get the power to the ground you will have to look into re-gearing the diff's. I would recommend a 4" lift, this will accomadate 33's and you will be having to spend some $$ to do it right. Look at rubicon, skyjacker, superlifts. All good packages, just read teh material lists CAREFULLY> for some reason they don't always list EVERTHING you will need! With a 4" lift you will be looking at replacing the driveshaft with a CV type and if your have the NP231, you will be doing an output shaft upgrade (called a slip yoke eliminator kit) With 33's you might be looking at re-gearing, but after you have the lift installed, run it and see how your power is. If you feel its lacking then a set of 3.73 or 4.10's would work nicely. Just get ready to spend $$ at the pump!!

Re: cherokee lifts

^^^X2!^^^

I'm running 33's with a 4.10 ratio and REALLY want to step down to 4.56's/4.88's. Regearing is going to have to happen as well as the SYE kit if you're going that big/tall...

I'd HIGHLY ADVISE doing it ONCE. Go as big as you want the 1st time. I found the right size for me was going to be 33's/35's, so I landed at 4.5"-6" of lift.

You can get a 4.5" coil/full leaf & shackle kit and then use spacers in the front and a little fabbing in the rear to drop the shackle mounts to get to a full 6" on a 4.5" budget...

Buy this book!- http://www.ericsxj.com/book.htm - Trust me. You won't regret it.

<--- Hey! I have 2 stars! Yay!
