Cams
I am wanting to do a cam swap and maybe some heads this summer. Here is a list of cams I am interested in.
Texas Speed Torquer 2 232/234 .595/.598 TSP XS Series Camshaft: 233/239, .595"/.603" Texas Speed 228/228 .588/.588 Magic Stick V.4 239/242, .649"/.609 I am torn between these four cams. Also how do I match up the heads to get with the cam? Should I call the place I am getting cam from and ask them? Here is a link to the web site with the cams TSP Thanks guys and gal.

Re: Cams
How would it affect the way it drives? Hard to keep it running etc?

Re: Cams
The bulk of the ones you listed are well over a !/2" inch (.500). Loss of vacuum for starters.

But the first 3 cams are all pretty close and should put out within the same range of power. And none of them are really outside the ranges of a DD cam. Its generally accepted that a 224 cam is a good DD cam. What exactly are you looking for out of this cam? And what type of heads are you going with? |

Re: Cams
Oh, and I wouldn't go with a cam with less than a 112 LSA, unless you got a power adder.

Re: Cams
If you are going to keep the fuel injection you are looking at lots of time/effort spent on the tune (program for the ECU) Without a good tune it probably won't ven stay running. Also you are going to want bigger injectors. And as mentioned...you are going to have vacuum problems and may have to use either a vacuum reservoir or an electric/belt driven vacuum pump to run brakes and other items like cruise control.

Re: Cams
Of course you'll want a tune, but I think some of these cams have run without a tune. Vacuum won't be a problem with these cams on a 114 LSA. At least, no one has mentioned the assistance of a vacuum booster with these cams. For some reason, I know more about LS1 cams than LT1 cams. But like I said, I've heard nothing but compliments on the Torquer 2 cam, a bunch of people on LS1.com are running that cam.

Re: Cams
The tourquer v2 is my first choice and will probably be getting that one. I was wondering how I match up the heads with the cam so I can get the best bang for my buck. I want low end power off the line. Would be nice to get 400 hp out of it if not more.

Re: Cams
With that combo and supporting bolt-ons, you'll definately be over the 400 hp mark, no question. As far as matching the heads to the cam, its about getting the heads to be able to keep up with the flow demand of the cam. If not, that's where you leave power on the table. I would ask TSP about a good set of matching heads or how much porting to the stockers would be needed to match the cam nicely.
