Adding a transmission cooler
Any experience out there on the degree of difficulty in adding a transmission cooler to to a 1999 1500 Express Van. It currently has 71 K miles and no problems with the trans but I am adding a hitch to pull about a 2000 pound trailer (gear and baggage). Any experience with the best brands that fit the best. Thanks

Re: Adding a transmission cooler
Fred;
This is a fairly easy process. Just follow the manual. After market Tran coolers use a special nylon zip tie to fasten it to the condensor. On the van you may find it easier to pull the front grill and make your own mount. This is what I did. I used to pieces of flat stock iron that spand across the front of the condensor I screwed them to the condensor mounts then bolted my trans cooler to flat stock iron. If you do this be very carefull to not damage the condensor. Damage to the condensor can be a very expensive repair. If you are not comfortable working around the condensor have a certified service person install the trans cooler. JN |
