numbers for chevell

I have a 1972 Chevelle Malibu ss. This is all original, and know the origianl one owner who bought the vehicle new in 1971. I am trying to locate any numbers on the frame, but can not seem to locate them. Does anyone know were the numbers are located on the frame if there are any? Please help.

I am looking for the frame numbers on a 1972 Chevelle Malibu SS. I know the original one owner who bought the car new in 1971. I have looked everywere and can not locate any numbers on the frame. If they even have any. Can anyone please help. Thanks.

What kind of numbers are you looking for?

The VIN tag is where you start -- the car must have at least this.

The engine block should also have a stamped ID on the front passenger side around the block/head parting line-- this should also reflect the VIN sequence if the engine is original to the body.

Frame stampings may be long gone (rusted, painted, welded over), if there ever were any.

If you're looking for "matching numbers" type stuff, just about every part should have a number stamped or cast into it, or tagged onto it -- many of the stamps that are external to the car, and especially ones underneath the car on the frame and suspension were not designed to last for enternity, so don't get your hopes too high.
