Could you guys chime in with a few tips that are not to expensive that will help me with fuel mileage and adding horsepower. Ive already added kn cold air induction and the accel tune up kit. thanks

Re: Gas Mileage and Horsepower
It is going to be hard to get both.
The K&N cold air induction is not going to be very much help. In fact it may go the other way. Did you check mileage before and after the K&N change over? What all was in the accel kit? What is your mileage and HP now? What are you shooting for on HP and mileage/ What year and engine and rear end gear set up? What kind of driving do you need more power for? MT

Re: Gas Mileage and Horsepower
Now why in the hell would the kn induction cause worse horsepower or gas mileage? I havent checked the hp since the install but just by driving I can tell its increased the hp. Cap rotor plugs wires came in the accel kit and seems to have helped as well.

Re: Gas Mileage and Horsepower
Most of the K&N HP and more gas mileage comes from the hyped up advertising that is already in a persons head when he installs one.
You already think you have more HP the minute you put it on there. But does it actually have more HP in it? You usually install it with a tune up. The tune helps it run better and the K&N makes more noise. And you are now sure the K&N has added a bunch of HP But check your HP and gas mileage with the K&N installed. Then put a stock AC Delco filter on it and recheck it. I do not think you will see much HP difference. The K&N may let a little more air in at high or peak rpm and show a couple more HP on the old dyno. But the sad part is at lower rpm on normal driving the K&N so called cold air air induction could let hot air in or the wrong amount of air that you engine intake setup and mass air flow sensor needs and actually lower HP and mess up or lower gas mileage. Just like taking the cat off or a high flow exhaust dropping the back pressure can lower engine torque and mess with HP. Your intake need some restriction. You need the right amount and kind of air in as well as the right exhaust for good hp and fuel mileage. MT
