2000 Pontiac Sunfire's brake lights
Hi, we just bought my daughter a 2000 Sunfire and now the two rear brake lights are not working? The tail brake light is working fine but not the two tail lights? Anyone had this problem or hear of a fix?
Any suggestions would be great! Thanks, JK |

Re: 2000 Pontiac Sunfire's brake lights
I had a similar event occur with my wifes 99 Cavalier.
Safety lamp OK when brake pedal switch activated, but no break lamps. When I checked the bulbs in the body at either side of the trunk lid, they were fine. Hmmm. So, pedal switch OK..., Safety lamp OK... I thought I'd better check the schematic... The schematic (Haynes Manual) shows the tail lights (break lamps) run through the switch for the left and right signal indicators in the steering column... if you can believe it. The switch had to be replaced at a dealership, since I wasn't brave enough to pull the ignition column apart with the airbag sitting there staring at me... $160.00 CDN including labour & taxes. -Jayson- |
