99 Solara oil light on and engine problem

I was driving my 99 Solara and the oil light on the dashboard came on. I checked the oil - it was fine, so I kept driving, but then the engine started losing power. By the time I made it home, it was running very rough, started making loud noises (like a rattling, scratching and even banging at times). I got off the car and saw that it suddenly had started leaking oil (no oil leaks prior to this incident). I am afraid to even start it and don't know what could be wrong.... Can anyone help? Thank you.

dont start it, take it to your mechanic or dealer, (you might need an engine)but is hard to diag. from far away
