Re: 1989 cherokee fuel pump stays on with key off

Did you just purchase this vehicle and it was a problem when you got it? or do any wiring to it recently? or any work at all?

are there any jumper wires under the hood or the fuse block?

Re: 1989 cherokee fuel pump stays on with key off

hi, thanks.
i found that near that row of 4 relays, there is a thing that looks like a lawnmower solenoid, or an old ford-like solenoid thing. it has several wires conected to it. something in this area is shorting. if i push down on it, i can hear the fuel pump going on and off.
i have bent it a little so that it would shut off; but have not pinpointed the problem.
it's still idleing really fast.
thanks for th help.
