What should I expect? just test drove a 1999!

Man it was hard to keep my game face on at the dealership! LOL! This car is a fully loaded Tauras with all of the bells and whistles. It has the 24 valve motor so it has plenty of pep! It did not have many miles on it and they price was around blue book! With a warrenty it's a sweet deal. I was just wandering before I seal the deal in the morning. Does anyone hear have any experience with the 99 model? if so what's the pros and cons? if any!

Re: What should I expect? just test drove a 1999!

I have the 98 Sable with the 24V Duratec motor. Just passed 238,000 miles. Bought it when it had 9,000 miles and a year old. Tranny had to be rebuilt at @ 194,000. Fuel pump went out at 174,000. Water pump went out last month. Need to do the front wheel bearings soon. It is burning a quart of oil every 1,500 miles. Have the problem with the door ajar switch every once in awhile. WD-40 takes care of that (search the forum if you get that problem). Rebuilt the multi-function switch (turn, wiper, high-beam) at @ 120,000 miles(I have a forum entry on how I did that). It has been in three accident caused by others that would have totaled a lesser car. The other peoples insurance put it back the way it should be. I may get a Mustang soon, but I plan on keeping this car till it gets a million miles. I had a 2005 Taurus rental during one of the accident repairs. It just didn't have that comfortable, reliable feeling of my 98. My biggest advice is change the tranny fluid, change the tranny fluid, change the tranny fluid. I had been doing it every 30,000 up to 120,000. Then my wife had multiple fractures in her spine. So I had to work full time, take care of her, the kids and the house all on my own. Didn't think about the tranny until it stopped shifting.
