Auto trans...loss of power...new ones better?

I know you lose a lot of power thru the drivetrain in an auto. My question is this....If you had a choice of an auto (built), are the newer ones (AOD, AODE) more efficient (less power loss) than the older C-4's and C-6's?

AOD trannys absolutely drain power. The C6 absorbs alot too. My choice would be a C4 or PG.

C4 is the only auto, unless its a cruiser, then AOD.

Re: Auto trans...loss of power...new ones better?

I think Tony is saying the C4 is the only auto tranny he would use unless the car see's alot of highway miles where an O/D would be beneficial.

Personally in my street car I like the C4. Ya I turn around 3k on the highway but my motor doesnt mind it a bit lol. Hell my converter is still in the flash range there. If the converter locked up I'd drop about 600-700 rpm's probably. For a Race only car I'd go with a PG (powerglide), but on the street I like 3 gears. I have considered an AOD for my car, but the C4 is fine for now.
