Question Joints and Hubs and Struts 97GTP

I'm putting in a bunch of new parts on my 97 GTP. Planning on putting new balljoints and Struts and new hubs. Probably end up doing new brakes and rotors as well. This car does a 100+ miles a day. With 185k on it I don't want any failures. Can anybody give me any advice on anything else that I should look for while I have the whole front end apart. I haven't done the balljoints on this car before. Does anyone know if there is any tricks that make this job any easier? I plan on putting in KYB struts, any particular hubs, or joints that anyone cares to recommend? Thanks!

Re: Joints and Hubs and Struts 97GTP

I just got done doing the front left wheel bearing it was not that bad to do. It helps if you have a impact wrench to use for the hard to do bolts. Plus I found a lot of different bearings out there starting from around a $100. to $200. And from two years to a life time warranty. good luck

you might want to check the rear control arm bushings in the front. they are known to come apart. but you will need a press to put them in.

Re: Joints and Hubs and Struts 97GTP

Mine is a 97 Regal GS. I had new struts put on the front. I did'nt do the upper strut mount bushings. Car rides good but I get a "clunk" from the front sometimes. There is a place in NY that i got complete control arms for about $120, that includes ball joints and CA bushings. Ball joints alone were about $40 each. If the ride feels sloppy, find out what parts are worn. A good way to tighten the ride is to replace all 4 sway bar links. If you do struts make sure strut mounts are good. All of the work you described is expensive. The hubs may not give a poor ride when they go bad. If you get a scan it will tell you if your hubs are bad
