Opel Kadett C Coupe "Hillracer" - WIP

Hi,

after some modelling of things you will see later this year, here another WIP.

As here are so many VW fans in the forum, I thought about another German car: The Opel Kadett C Coupe, a favourite car of mine.

The model, I intend to build is this one: the car of the Risse-Motorsport-Team, as it ran in 2004 at the hill races in Germany and some countries around. Although the C-serie was built from 1973 to 1979, these cars are often seen at races still today.

This is the original car I will build:




Here is my base that I will work with, a 1:24 Bburago model, I bought in not so good condition about 13 years ago (yes, a diecast, but I post it here as it will be heavily modified and probably there will be later a resin copy).




I had to use strong paint strip for metal to get rid of the yellow paint. But them the body was "naked"



Next step was to close some slots in the front and making front-, rear- and side skirts out of putty and sheet.


The holes under the rear lights must be closed. Fotos are just done to make the modifications visible, before primer will cover everything.

Yeah! It's a cool car and a nice subject. I see the scratching is going along fine!

Wow, I'm a big fan of these Gr. H cars, since the first french hillclimb championship event in my city where a Kadett GT-E such like this one made the 7th overall time of all "closed cars" ? (opposite to open wheels), putting some 306 Maxi or BMW M3 Gr. A behing her !!! (and moreover some open wheels Formula regarding both classifications rankings).

Men, an exhaust in which i could have introduce my head, a sound smelling like Group B cars or something like that, and... a very ugly light park green color and this car grew the hill like no other in big raging slides and accelerations !!

I've been thinking to build such a Bergrennen car for a long time, even started a Golf mk1 (one another of these incredible cars, 4 cylinder from Audi, 250 bhp, 230 Km/h top speed !!!) but didn't finished it as I was starting from a bad die cast base...

Micha, you've earnt a fan with this thread !

Hi Oli,

I´ll use the rims you see on the photos with BBS-etched inlet, they are from www.automobilminiaturen.de .

Grill came with the car (it was a complete car, not just the body).

Rear spoiler will be a challenge as well as the interior, which you can kick in the trash can ;-))

Micha, that is cool, great subject. I've never seen one of those cars before, here in Canada Opels are few and really far between. I'll be watching your build as it looks like cool subject matter.

I always like it if somebody builds rare cars in scale. I didn't even know there was a Kadett C model - I guess I'm just a tad too young ;-)

Updates please Micha! Im in the process of converting a diecast to resin also so i need all the help/pics i can get! Nice subject, certainly wont be a plastic kit of this car. Keep it up!

Chad, lots of things to do at the moment besides modelling.
At the weekend I´ll try to make some photos, but on the metal body there just some minor modifications happened. At the moment I work at the cage. In the first week of April I am on holiday, then I send the body to a "professional" to make a resin copy.
Next I intend to make the final details on the resin body (maybe making the gap around the doors finer), make slots for the rear wing etc.

Thats my problem. Im trying to make a modified die-cast ready for resin casting but the hood and doors are leaving huge gaps. Not sure how to get around this. Have a nice holiday though! Looking forward to your return, might have the 355 done by then. cheers,
