Aztek steering noise
Ok, about a year ago there was a noise from the left side. A member told me he had something like this and it was brake related. Turns out it was. I replaced the pads and that has been fine.
Recently, there has been a noise when turning right, not the same noise and I replaced both sets of front brakes. This issue happens when turning right at low speeds but not all the time. It is a short quick sound that is kind of a grind/clunk and is maybe a second in length right now. There is no issue while driving or turning at speeds above 10. Only happens going right so far and it is a 5 mph or lower. It has been a while since the chassis has been lubed. I have not been able to do anything with the drive shafts and thats where I think the sound is from. I think they need to be repacked. 2001 aztek with 93,000 miles |

Re: Aztek steering noise
Hey Eldar, I see this is an older thread but was wandering if you found the problem. My 02 Aztec had to have front wheel bearings at 50000mi and now I am having some more noise. May be the CV joint?

Re: Aztek steering noise
I have to agree that this certainly sounds like a CV joint going bad on the right side. You can have it replaced now or wait until the joint gets worse the choice is yours.
