96 sunfire 2.2 frustratedbouttagagiveup
brief history on car ,153k on car no issues with engine normal process, had major tuneup couple years ago.Only thing started smelling gas inside car so replaced injector.been fine and few months ago noticed smell again took it back to mechanic and replaced another injector, after replacing check engine light came on-random misfire .Engine ran ok out on road but like crap at idle.Took back in and he said looks like the injector that he had origionly done was bad so at this point he replaced that..I went over and seem to run ok but still couldnt get check engine to go off and stay and still was little shaky at idle but no code read clear. In NC ya cant get one thru inspection with it on.He started with sensors-nothing changed next changed computer and still nada
Supposedly has friend works at Dealership put on their computer came up coilpak igntion module rear 02-done. He drove it home said ran great and then next morning -like crap..He is saying still runs great on road but idles like crap ,,needless to say I am bout ready to puke ...anybody been thru this and actually manage to get it fixed??thanks |

A couple of years ago for tune up? I`d do the plugs, wires (if they weren`t done ) air filter and fuel filter. get the codes checked and cleared . Go to Autozone and have them check codes. Throttle body could likely use a good cleaning. Start with that .

the ignition module sits on a plate on the block of the motor, IF this plate is not clean of rust or build up it will not get a proper ground
