Re: ?'s about preludes

It depends on maintenance they can last as low as several thousand miles or as much as a million plus. Usually somewhere between 150,000 and 300,000

price seems on the cheap side so I would take it to a mechanic and get it inspected but it might be a good deal.

Re: ?'s about preludes

I would definately have it checked out.
If it turns out to be a POS, you paid a mechanic $40 or so to inspect and save you the hassle of paying more for repairs than for the car.
Or you could pay $2840 or so to get an awesome deal on a very nice car.
I paid 2500 for my 94 Prelude Si with the H23a1 motor. It leaked oil and I liked to race, needless to say I drove the car for a month and a half, then it sat for 6 months while I worked on getting another motor.
The cars aren't hard to modify its like working on any other honda, everything is there, you just gotta find it. But with things like intake and exhaust, the gains are somewhat minimal, but everything helps.

Most mechanics will be about the same, but there will be the variety of prices to do the same thing.
If the car really is a POS then no, the VTEC model will cost you more, and it'll still be a POS that will give you problems. If the car is a POS then get away from it. If it doesn't leak oil, doesn't make any weird noises like clicking, clunking banging or ticking, and checks out, you're good to get it.
Since you're asking all these questions, I would call a few shops around you and see what they charge to inspect a car that you're thinking of buying.

Without pics I wouldn't even try to tell you if it's worth it or not. I mean, I wouldn't buy a car for any cost based solely on a description.
