ELC is Electronic Level Control, which is the leveling thing in the back of the van.

Are you sure that is the fuse that is blowing out? Please check this page and let me know if it looks like your fuse panels (side panel and under hood).

Do you have the programming procedures for locking choices. It should be in your Owner's Manual.

Take Care,

Re: elc blowing fuse on '99 silhouette

greg, mine is a '99 some difference in fuse box you have a lot more 25 amps than i do.i think i have 3 total. but after i posted the first post i got to looking on internet and found out is wasn't the locks but the leveling in the rear. so i tore into it today and it has a selaniod[forgive the spelling] that was not sealed so moisture would not get in it. well i guess being behind rear tire didn't help either.but the selaniod is all rusted and i guess shorted out. the motor and pump work fine. i guess the selaniod let the air back out. the 25 amp for elc is the only fuse that has blown i guess i'll pull the relays and
check them for the running lights not flashing when using the remote. also the doors are supposed to lock when it is put in gear and the aren't thanks

Did the lights flash and the doors lock before? If so, this is a Body Control Module (BCM) issue. Probably just needs to be reprogrammed.

Take Care,

Re: elc blowing fuse on '99 silhouette

gregg, i guess when i had the battery unhooked all the security programming went back to all 1's this explains why the doors would still lock and unlock with no flashers, horn .i'm glad you thought of reprogramming it as i couldn't figure out what was going on. how i got elc as the lock control was a chevy dealer service manager steered me that way.she told me that all she could come upon elc was lock control. but i did reprogram it and everything is back to normal.i put a seal in the a/c compressor and the fans have to come out to get to it. the flashers worked before i pulled the compressor and after it went back in the flashers wouldn't work. but i did find out what was blowing the elc fuse the sliniod on the pump assembly had moisture in it and i guess it shorted out dealer wants $ 140.00 for new siliniod. in guess i'll go to the junkyard and get one that ohms good. but thanks again
