Oil Change Interval Reminder

Is it possible to reprogram the oil change interval reminder for a different interval? I am going to start using synthetics and want to know If I can change the interval reminder to 5000 miles.

rprough, it looks like you drive 2004. My Camrie's LE is programmed to come on every 5,000 miles. When does your reminder come on?

You know, I am not shure. It is a 2004 camry. If in fact it is a 5000 mile interval, by going through the normal reminder light reset procedure, without the light having come on, will it reset the interval when I get my oil changed when I start using synthetics?

I do not think so. There is no way the computer will know the conditions of your oil (at least on 2004 Camry!).

You most likely will have to do it manually.

I guess what I meant to say was that can I reset the reminder before it actually comes on and start fresh? Just in case I did not explain it clearly.

I have just done this on my 07, but then I never let it get to 5000 miles between dino oil changes. The first time the light came on was on my first restart after 5000 miles. I didn't think about resetting the light after my first oil change. I did reset it when it came on (had to look up the procedure) and again after my second oil change. I'm at 9000 miles now, so I'll wait and see if it comes back on at 10,000 miles. I would venture to say resetting it makes it come on 5000 miles later, since it reads mileage, not the condition of the oil.

If you need to know now, you can try calling your local dealer and ask them. If they don't seem to know, give Toyota corporate customer service a call at 1-800-331-4331 and ask them.

The procedure for resetting it is easy. It is in the owners manual in the back.
