WIP: Gumball 3000: Impreza STI

It's been another while I have been posting here already.

and I am back from AFV stuffs and get back to this my favorite car and favorite kit~ i have got a custom-made decal with it this time, to replica the gumball 3000 impreza which showed up in its 2005 race~

I just compared the new body with the completed Project M kit, and memories running back and fore~~~


Got a little scratch building, the wing raiser:


Primed with #1200 surfacer and then white surfacer


and then painted with gunze #156:


I have masked the body with blue tape so as to replica the paint droping from the floor shape... but it turns out the color is too dark and that i have to wash away the paints....


Usually, accident happened when you are in a hurry... the broken A-pillar...


primed again...


This time i masked the body with masking sol but i have to "draw" the shape by hand...


and the color tone is a lot better this time~


I did the same again to have the darker grey on


And here comes the decal work. i really like this decal and marking~



after all, i will be waiting for backup decals so i can complete the marking and have clear coat and so on~

Wow! Very cool project. I guess by 'custom decals' you mean you made them yourself, so they are not for sale? I think I'd buy a set if they were available! Cool work on the paintjob as well. This build has really given me some ideas.

Yes....much needed are those decals!!!! Please consider sale of them! lookin amazing so far! Why didn't you use the 03-04 body tho?

i can hardly find more than 10 pics for the imprezas...

for the choice of color, since the gold is much more secure to print without problem, i have tried the gold for the time being. i would probably go for the black and pink combo later on~
for the blue and orange combo, i would rather have the mica blue body instead, since i love the mica blue impreza so much~!!

since i have spent some months on the AFV field, I have caught some skills from there. and camo is one of those. i have got some advises from weathering skill too, so hopefully i can apply those weathering on cars too~

For the decals, I just draft the logos and my friend print it from his alps~
i am not sure if he would let me bulk order...
but if i can get a handy of one or two, i would really like to share with you guys~

Totally awesome! One of the coolest car projects I've seen in a while. I'm thinking about how to do the newer DC car, the one with the blue DC cubes all over it, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to do those decals. Fantastic work! I can't wait to see this complete! Are you going to do the other two?
