Change rear drums to dics????
Hey guys have buddy with 2004 Sunfire 2.2 with drums out back. Wants to put front breaks of a J-body on the back. Wondering if he can do this, if not does anyone know if GM ever made a setup on a FWD car with discs out back. I know the new cobalt has them but are they compatible?? Grabbing parts from wreckyard so parts aren't an issue. Thanks for the help.

Re: Change rear drums to dics????
You can do an IRS swap with a gran am for em, You can get neon SRT-4 rear brakes, but the brackets need to be machines to fit the bolt patterns of the j-body. Other wise the bolt patterns are the same, then you just neon rear rotors and brakes. Same with vette brakes. The brackets and rotors need to be redrilled on this option tho.. Or you can go aftermarket bolt ons with BAER or SSBC. Thats pretty much your only options..

Re: Change rear drums to dics????
i had an 88 cutlass (w-body, includes cutlass, monte carlo, and i think lumina) with disc brakes in the rear. i think the lumina might have them, maybe the monte as well. you might be able to get away with changing hub assemblies, i dont know.
