Power Window and Door Lock Switch?

(96 lumina) Once, about 6 months ago, my driver side power window stopped working. The next day it worked fine. A month ago it stopped working again and, this time, didn't start working again. I ignored it for a few weeks then decided to try and fix it. That morning, I went out and, as had happened several times before, I found that the door was locked (it has a driver side door lock switch for all doors - I never lock them at home). I opened it with the key and as I drove away I tried the window just for the heck of it and it worked. Last week it stopped working again. Since, once in a while, I find the doors locked when I didn't lock them, I'm wondering - Is there any relation between the switches on the door for the power window and the door lock?

Thanks
John

Re: Power Window and Door Lock Switch?

I believe the issues you're having are unrelated, unless it's the wiring that goes from the car body, through the door, and to the switches. It's possible from being flexed as the door opens/closes, the harness could have some frayed wires. Another possibility is that the door lock relay is bad causing the door locking issue, and the window switches are a fairly common issue on these cars. The other possibility is window motor itself is going bad.

Re: Power Window and Door Lock Switch?

My driver's window won't respond occaisionally...I open the door a bit and hold the button down while closing the door hard, and it springs back into action....

Car has me trained well..
