My latest eBay acquisition :)

GTR by Michael Cotton

The book was taken along to the BPR round at Silverstone on May 12th 1996. I knew there were some significant signatures (some you will instantly connect with the F1) in the book as per the items description - Nelson Piqeut, Jo Deletraz, Andy Wallace(!), Fabien Giriox, Olivier Grouillard, Hana Hugenholtz, Jean-Luc Maury-Laribere, M Duez

But it was a lovely surprise to see Gordon Murrays signature in there, as well as the author of the book, Michael Cotton, James Weaver, Ray Bellm, John Nielsen and I think Thomas Bscher amongst others I can't decipher.

Not bad eh!!

I never realised, until I PM'd Le Man and actually received the book, that the book was half German half English text, but that makes no difference as the pictures are ACE!!

I would recommend you take the plunge and pay the high price for it if you see one come up for auction. Of course you only pay what you think the item is worth, but I believe I paid a lot less than what the book is actually worth. It'll go well with the XP5 suit carrier for Thomas's inheritance

Re: My latest eBay acquisition :)

Greg, I wonder why you didn't have that book already.
I bought my copy in 1996 for the small amount of DM 70,- (less than GBP 25,-) - I bet you gave much more...

But nontheless, the book is worth it!

Roger

Re: My latest eBay acquisition :)

OUCH! I paid a little more for mine, although the sticker price inside states £29.95 (!). I only knew about it within the past couple of years and wasn't in a position to buy one, at a price I was comfortable with until recently.....

Worth the extra for the signatures alone.

I still don't have a copy of this book either, to be honest. I have tried to win a few, but have always been outbid in the past. I know that I need one too, so I will grab one soon.

I even have an Ebay Favorite Search set up to email me whenever an auction description contains "Michael Cotton", but haven't seen one of these books get flagged by that in quite some time. I certainly didn't see this one, which looks fantastic.

Very interesting that someone was able to grab all those signatures. I am impressed! Congrats Greg!! (and Thomas too )

Well done Greg,

Nice surprise with the extra sigs, adds even more value!!

As for those of you without a copy.

This book is very rare and I have seen them go for around three hundred GBP,s. The only problem is, you never know when another copy will come up for sale.

I know someone, with some brand new copies, not sure how many and what he is asking for them at the moment. If anybody is interested, I shall find out. Feel free to PM me.

Re: My latest eBay acquisition :)

Got your christmas present early Greg!
I was lucky to pick one up off E-BAY a few years ago.The one i bid for had the Harrods car on the cover, but i got outbid.Anyway the seller said he had another copy ,same cover as yours, and sold me it for about £90.I think there is a gulf cover aswell.
I had looked for this book for years at every car show,so was glad to get it!

Have you got Blue & orange[gulf story] by Michael Cotton? Well worth getting for GTR features

Re: My latest eBay acquisition :)

My F1 literature isnt that vast - Driving Ambition, Mclaren - The cars 1964-2008 and this GTR book, although I have others that have the F1 in it (eg Into the Red 2nd edition).
