I am sorry but I just don't see the point. I have a friend that had a 1978 Celica and that thing couldn't even keep up with my Jeep Wagoneer, and that thing couldn't get out of its own way to save its life.

However; to each his own. Yes you can turbocharge a naturally aspirated engine. It is just a matter of time and money, and you better have a good amount of both.

I wouldn't suggest even thinking about doing it yourself, take it to a professional that you implicitly trust to install the turbo if you decide to have it done. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

I say, if it is what you want, you like the looks, the by all means do it. There could be huge differences in a 74 and 78 afterall, and I am by no means a Toyota expert either.

the only thing you really should do is upgrade the injectors and lower your compression(if its high). also get a a/f gauge so you and see how your running (rich or lean) and then do what has to be done. if you can get your hands on the november 2002 super street there is a 1980 toy cel that was running 12-17psi but alot of work was put into it. good luck
