Re: mustang Horse Power
Well not to be rude here but from what you posted in here I'm calling BS. Your "statement" was completely clueless. You want to know how much power you can "put in" a Mustang GT. Hell it wouldnt matter if it was a Mustang LX you could still build it the same as you could a GT. Its not like you can only give it a certain amount of power just because its a Mustang GT. Next, you claim to have a 1400hp motor to drop in a car. Well you can drop just about any motor in just about any car. Also I highley doubt that you have this "1400hp motor". If you did you wouldnt be asking if it would fit. If you did have such motor and still asked if it would fit in a "Mustang GT" you would tell us what motor it is. I'm gonna stop this now because its foolish. If you want to learn then ask, dont make claims that dont exist.
But, dont take me wrong I'm not saying you cant have a Mustang GT with 1400hp. I know of lots guys with mustangs making power anywhere from 450hp to 2200hp.

Re: mustang Horse Power
Well I didn't say I had the motor to put in it. I just said I was LOOKING at putting in a 1400hp engine that I MAY buy from a company when I get the car. I am getting this car around the first of april and I am LEARNing about performance cars. So it was just a question on how much power a car like that could handle. I am new to all this and would like advice on this please, NOT smartass remarks.
My main thing I want to do with this car is turn it in to a street legal performance car. So I really don't know what is good and bad to do. |

Re: mustang Horse Power
Shit, you could put a jet engine in it if you wanted to.
As far as your question, you need to clarify what exactly you are looking to do. Sure, you could drop pretty much any motor and make it fit. That answers your initial question. Other variations of your question could be How much can the stock motor handle? How much can the tranny/drivetrain handle before breaking? |

Re: mustang Horse Power
Thanks for the help. well if you want to know my first plan, it was to take a stock GT and turn it in to a Shelby GT500+, like the car from gone in 60secs (sorry proud fan of Eleanor I know over used). Just new school style, so I thought of the 07' mustang and get it redone all custom. WCC would do the body, and was thinking about a saleen, but want something more powerful. so I am still up in the air about the work that needs to be done. Any help or ideas would be great. Like I said I am real new to engines, I am a car audio kind of guy.

Re: mustang Horse Power
In that case it sounds like you will need to replace alot. Figure out your budget and what you want to do. The cosmetics will be expensive. Also if you want a kickass huge power motor go give Steve Morris $30k, he build some of the very best.

get a full bullitt shortblock.... good for about 1,500 RWHP if not more pop a twin screw on the top of some custom milled heads and a cam ground for your setup.... after that, usual basic breather mods and about 30 PSI and a perfect dyno tune..... seriously dude... 1,400 hp? lol good luck streeting that and another thing.... if you want to be like eleanor..... swapping a random engine isn't the way to do it... might as well buy the new GT500 for the kind of work an engine swap will take on a S197... and another thing... the car had a 427 cobra jet.... apples to oranges man |

If you want the new body style though I'd suggest keeping the mod motor as mentioned. Also for a little better streetability I'd suggest a turbo, instead of gobs of torque right off idle with a roots style blower. I am currently making the blower to turbo swap myself because I want my car to be kinda quiet. The scream of a blower was just not something I wanted to listen to while sitting in traffic. Keep in mind though, you start with building the motor, then you gotta upgrade the fuel system, trans, driveshaft & rear, chassis, ect ect.
